Anyone know if P. insigne f. sanderae and P. insigne f. sanderianum are the same thing? If so, are they both aureum forms? If they are different, is it album vs. aureum? I am very much confused.

Dear Stephen,
it is very easy.
Paphiopedilum insigne forma sanderianum (HORT.) GRUSS et ROETH is the true albine form without any red colour,

Paphiopedilum insigne forma sanderae (RCHB.F.) GRUSS et ROETH differed from the forma sanderianum by the small reddish brown spots on the dorsal sepal.
The second one is very often in culture, the first is really rare.

Both names were very often confused. The names are too similar and also the flowers.

Best greetings

Olaf

Olaf, thanks very much for the info, the similarity of the names and of the flowers led to my confusion.

Here is my Paph. insigne fma. sanderae in bloom. You can see the small brown specks on the dosal sepal.<a href="http://picasaweb.google.com/gotsomerice/PaphInsigneFmaSanderae/photo#5166983096639349746"><img src="http://lh3.google.com/gotsomerice/R7TPwCOi4_I/AAAAAAAAAIc/14PhUDuO5JY/s144/IS.jpg" /></a>

Here is my Paph insigne fma Sanderianum as a comparison. It was actually sold to me as a 'Sanderae' but the lack of spots on the dorsal means it is a 'Sanderianum'.
