This is a very easy one to grow,

Grow this one in a shade house, keep the root zone cool and moist and fertilise at 1/4 strenghth orchid food every 2nd week when in growth.

In winter let it go dormant but keep it just moist. There should be more information in the archives about dormancy with this species

Good luck
Stephen

You may want to check out this link (http://www.cypripedium.de/forum/messages/2711.html) for Dr. Bill Steele's experience with this species as well.

Bill Steele has been growing these very successfully in a mixture of turface (seramis) and perlite with blooming specimens now.

I have been growing seedlings in a similar medium (turface and Soil Perfector - like perlite a heat and air expanded rock but a bit denser than water so it doesnt float away in beds like perlite) and find they are very fast growers with long roots.
