I'm just curious.
Checking out my plants today and thought of a question. I have a lot of the sticky brown secretion on the base of all my caudatum type phrags and their relatives. Now, I know this is harmless and the sign of a happy plant, but I am curious about what the substance actually is (boy, is it sticky!) and why it is so prevalent on (at least in my collection) only these types.

Thanks!

it's not honeydew, is it?

No, different than honeydew - at least in the way it looks and acts. Is it the same sugary substance though? That's sort of what I wondered.

No, I never said that!

But I have, from my violacea and, um, a few others. What, you haven't??
Geez man, you don't know what you're missing!

To check the TDS of my CHC I have squeezed a piece between my teeth :) If it is salty tasting I rinse it again!

I've never noticed sticky brown stuff at the base of my phrags.

You better taste it and smell it for us.

Dang Tadd. You'll put anything in your mouth. :poke:
