View Full Version : New Lowii Plant
Justin November 15th, 2008, 09:25 AM Been focusing on nothing but roths over the last couple years, but now am rounding out my collection with a few other common species...Got this nice two-growth lowii from one of my trusted ebay vendors. Looks like it will spike this spring!

Paphraguy November 18th, 2008, 04:03 PM Justin, what are its parents, do you know? Thanks!
Justin November 18th, 2008, 05:25 PM Hi Peter,
Sorry, this is just a regular lowii with no special breeding. parents unknown.
should have a sense of the quality soon enough though, as i'm betting a spike will show up later in the season.

I have seen many inferior looking lowiis with smaller narrower leaves and those are the ones usually with smaller low quality flowers but your plant looks great with nice wide leaves.

Excellent! I'll be looking forward to seeing the photos! Unfortunately, just recently I came back home from a two day trip and found my lowii half dead and after removing some of the older dying and dead growths, the plant is now down sized to just one growth! Hope it lives because it's one of my favorite plants! :fcrossed:
Paphy57 January 16th, 2009, 08:40 PM That is great news that it is budding now!!

That isn't good! I hope it gets better! Which one of your lowii is it?

I hope it fully recovers! It took me years to finally find the one that I really like. I had other lowii cultivars which to me were all inferior quality plants and I had to get rid of them, so I'm really hoping it lives on. This is the one (http://www.slipperorchidforum.com/forum/showthread.php?t=11112&highlight=lowii) that is now reduced to just one growth.

That is a nice lowii!! It would be a big loss if it died, but I am sure you can bring it through. :fcrossed:
