Not much going on in the slipper department, but I took a few photos.
A&P had a nice display of Paph. Toni Semple (lowii x haynaldianum).

Almost every spike had at least six blooms.

This lowii was entered in the judging for growers, smaller than mine in leafspan by quite a lot.

The Mass. Orchid Society had a good educational display, but only three slippers, a delenatii (w/nice fragrance), and two hybrids, one complex, one w/ sukhakulii in it.

I watched a woman shopping at A&P lean over a delenatii to smell a Max. tenuofolia (which were everywhere, btw!) and she totally smoshed in the pouch of the delenatii w/ her glasses and was totally oblivious.

Hey, thanks for posting! I love the lowii, one of my favorite species. So, you came back empty handed?

Yes! Can you believe it? The vendors had NOTHING on my list. There were a couple nice sunroom examples, you would have liked, but no mini greenhouse, no hyrdoponic stores at all (they're the ones I expected to be able to chat w/ about lights,) no ph testers, nothing, darn it! I did get a light for my office plants, they can use a bit more, especially at this time of year. That was it. Lots of Phals, lots of Dends, a brassia or two and a LOT of Maxis, and Milts, and no Oncids, which surprised me, usually they're all over these shows. Four orchid vendors.

You know, I couldn't even find a new sundew!
It was actually kind of disappointing. I just don't really care much about other flowers anymore! Is that weird? Daffodils are just not all that exciting to me these days...

You're not alone. For me, it's all about the slippers and slippers only. So, no HPS also, huh?

I still like roses...yes, another high maintenance plant (to grow them well) that I've been growing ever since I got my 1st house...15 yrs ago...hmm, I'm old! But, still one of the youngest at the meetings and shows! :P

Tell me about it! I have friends who grow roses and what a hassle to keep them in shape and in health!
