Has anyone seen Sam's latest catalog? The roth crosses are mindblowing. I know I'll be picking up some of these seedlings very soon.

I'll be having dinner with Sam on Tuesday and listening to him talk on Wednesday night. He should have some flasks for me as well. Look forward to it all.

I looked at it also. My only problem with some of those new roth. seedlings are the price. I've bought a few from Sam and a few of the higher price ones (didn't tell my wife). But these new ones out of Japan that Sam cornered the market on are just too much for me. I'll have to leave these to you other guys.

Have you deflasked your seedlings yet?

I've only deflasked two of the three, ie the Paph hookerae and the Paph Sander's Parish. The latter was a nightmare to do as the roots were all tangled up together... (does anyone have tips on separating plants when the roots are so tangled up?)

anyways, here's a couple of pics of the compots.... some of the bigger plants that was potted up singularly aren't in the pics...

Those look very healthy tim. flasks are so much fun and they can be addictive.

don't keep them too wet (thinking they were just watered when you took the pic but thought it might be useful to mention).

best,
justin

aaah yes, the pic was taken just after I spritzed them with water... basically i spray with water and then the fan goes on until they are dry again.. i hope that's ok...

Very nice Tim. When you want to get rid of your excess Sanders Parish, keep me in mind. Actually I love hookerae as well.

I have spent a large part of the day doing the same thing as you. The best way I have found is to shake the plants gently in a bowl of water. I find that the plants seems to separate easily with minimal root damage. I find when I try and physically tease the roots apart I more times than not snap the roots. This worked pretty well today apart for the tigrinum which was diabolical.

If I have a few plants that are well and truly entangled, I just planted them as a small group. They should hopefully separate as they grow.

oh that is a sweet looking plant!!!

surprisingly, as in despite my best efforts or lack thereof, I haven't killed any of the little seedling yet... mind u the weather has turned and we're back to single digit temps the last couple of days :( they are inside on a heatpad so hope that helps.

Congrats Tim...if you made it this far then you are in the clear!

at the worst you can expect maybe one or two at the most to rot and die off over the next year, but more likely all will survive now. Sounds like you are well past the point of danger

Hi Justin,

I'm getting a BS parishii from Sam next week! I wanted the 2 growth plant but decided to save a little and get the one growth plant instead.

If you ever decide to get rid of one of your multiple parishii plants, you know where to send it! ;)

The two I already have are unfortunately not doing so great and one of them is already half way to Paph heaven :(. That is why I'm getting another since they are so hard to come by. Sam said he has a 5 growth plant for $75 per growth which is way out of my budget!

Not good! That one would be out of my budget also! LOL
