I am currently growing:
Phrag 'Appalachian Sunset'
Phrag Sargentianum,
Phrag. Mont Fallu,
Phrag. Albopurpureum ‘Sir Arthur’
I have read that some prefer growing wet or dry, in high or low light, cooler or warmer. Which do mine fall into?
Your help is much appreciated. I love these type of orchids.
Helga.

I believe your Phrags are all wet growing plants. Any hybrid with longifolium likes to be grown wet.

Sargentianum is a very large growing species. All of those Phrags do like it wet, but I would not set them in pans of water like what some besseae growers do.

I agree your Phrags are all water or wet loving plants. Nice plants by the way.

I would like to know the parentage of these phrags. How can I search?
Thank you for your responses.

I would just google the names and you should find the parents.
Phrag. sargentianum is a species, also.

It's been awhile since I visited last. Sorry, I did not get to thank you all for your responses.
The Sargentinium has one flower and a second bud right now, but the spike has not grown much, compared to last year when the spike grew to 30" with succession of many flowers. This years color is much better, however.
What could the reason be for the small spike (ca. 10")
The Albopurpureum bloomed for the first time with 2 flowers. Very pretty.
The Sargentinianum has not bloomed last year and sofar not in 2008. There are several new growth on the soil level but don't seem to grow taller than 2".
My MontFalou is still small. Will have to wait another year to see a spike, I guess.
