Was trying to track down some crushed oyster shell @ a local garden centre & thought i,d take a look @ the Phal,s.
Normally they,re well grown but whites or pinks.
This 1 caught my eye & was surprised to see that it was very peloric so i had to buy it.
Plant is not in the best condition but hopefully i can bring it round.

If you save the piccie to your harddrive & magnify the lip area you,ll see what seems to be a leopards head.

I don't normally like peloric phals, but that one is very interesting. Hopefully it has a name...

I have a friend who loves peloric phals, and she cleaned me out last time she visited the greenhouse. I had several. I hate them, she loves them, so we came to a mutually beneficial agreement. I gave them to her, and she gave me some valuable bench space. And then a few weeks later, spitefully, she gave me two specimen sized C. skinneri in 16" baskets (that I can barely lift), and an equally overgrown B. digbyana. So much for the bench space *grin*.

Just forewarning, some peloric phals bloom peloric sometimes and not others. It isn't always a stable phenotype. High heat seems to bring out the peloria in my collection.

That's a very interesting one. If I am seeing it correctly, it looks like the top sepal is mimicking the half shading that you normally see on a bottom sepal, like on a stuartiana.

I've seen a few half peloric phals here in Miami. One shop had a very interesting one where it had two flowers right next to each other. And they were half peloric on the side next to each other. Not sure if I am explaining that clearly. It made for an very interesting effect. Unfortunately I didn't have my camera. I'll swing by there this weekend to see if they are still there, but I doubt it.
