Finally, after months of the spike, my little violaceae opened! :joy:
No scent yet, and not exactly blue, but I expected as much regarding the latter. Does anyone know if the coerulea should have the fragrance?

Considering the coerulea simply means color designation, give it a few days it should smell soon. :) Nice flower!

Sorry, not so great pic - if I have a sunny day upcoming, will update.
Thanks for the news Tadd! :) And nice comments!
Glad to hear that, as you all know, I was froot loop deprived. :therethere:
Interesting to me this one opened over night, last night closed right up, but I could see the colors the last few days. This morning, almost open all the way, but can only get a good sunny photo here in the p.m. I think it is adorable, the mini phals are very special! I love having them in my kitchen and I cannot wait to smell this little sweetie!

LOL!! Yeah right! At least the burning a month ago forced the spike to move along more quickly! Thanks though!!

Very pretty Heather.

I know this works for hydrangias and I recently read an AOS article on pH and blue, but has anyone tried growing at lower pH to force more blue?

Arghhh, now I have to go get ph testing equip for my blue catts and it's all your fault. It seems lower pH would force more purple though but I'll check it out.

Beautiful flower Heather. I notice your Phal leaves split from too much succulence too so now I don't feel so bad with my leaves splitting all the time.

Thanks, came like that, the leaves, I mean. Also has a #4 written on it for some reason I know not, but when it was out in the sun too long, the bit over the four got a big burn mark on it. At least it didn't spread.

How big is the plant? Is it the first blooming for the plant?

Thanks!
Yes, it is the first bloom. The leafspan is just over 6".

Is is a beautiful species. I can't wait for my Phal violacea alba to flower in the near future. I think the plant will grow bigger and you can have it almost year round in bloom. Congrats

Thank you. The colors have darkened some, actually. I have another coerulea and a bellina also.
I do enjoy the Phal species, quite a bit. :)
