Picsri! The staminoid looks like a fly!
I think it is trying to mimic a fly to mate w/ it to pollinate!
Wow, that's so cool, I love the one's that mimic bugs. Too cool! Thanks!!!! :D

That is very cool Picsri. This is a species I plan to get sometime.

Heather the black hanging thing is actually the lip (petal) on a Bulbo flower, and it is hinged at the base so when a pollinator lands on it, it swings, and bangs the head of the pollinator against the anther segment (and gets a pollinia deposited). If it continues to swing on the same or different flower the pollinia may eventually get stuffed into the receptacle where the stigma is located.

This is at the base of the collumn. Should be about where that red spot is.

I don't know if the lip is supposed to visually mimmic a fly, a turd, or a piece of rotting meat. This should be a good sized flower.

Bulbos are too wild.

Thanks a lot , I think it did look like some kind of insect like Heather mentioned.. and it is movable as well...

Tadd, I did do that once, and will never do it again.. I took it to my wife to smell it during she just wake up, after that she continued sleeping for a couple more hours
