When should one harvest seed from C. kentuckiense? Dry or green? If green, why?
I know some use only green capsules, and some sow only dry seed. I have had better luck with dry seed, but would like to hear from more experienced growers. Thanks in advance!

Hi, Royal,
Most folks find germinating kentuckiense from mature, dry seed to be nearly impossible - certainly that is my own experience. I always use green pods for this species - 6 or 7 weeks after pollenation.
Good luck!

Thanks for the response. Impossible why? Does it just not want to germinate? Impossible to disinfect the seed? Thanks again,

They are readily disinfected. The media we commonly use just doesnt make this species' seed happy. I have heard that reducing ionic strength by half in very helpful - perhaps a systematic exploration of the media components will make this one easier.
