Hi Guys,
a few of the plants that flowered this year.
First a new one for me - Cyp Pixi ( Tibeticum x Calceolus).
Its a really dark flower - more chocolate than the red seen in the photo.
but it has real presence and holds itself very upright and erect.
The staminode is the real star.

Next is Tibeticum. It was bought last autumn and labelled as a large flowered clone.
It certainly is. Its a real star considering that it was moved and disturbed.

Nest is a comparison shot of three different, but similar hybrids.
Left to right are Sabine( fasciolatum x macranthos), Aki ( macranthis x pubescens) and Lucy Pinkepank ( kentuckiens x tibeticum). These are all big flowers.

Aki as some yellow in the lip and longer sepals. Sabine and Lucy are quite similar in colour, Sabine has a fatter lip and Lucy has slightly darker red sepals.
Next is Michael ( macranthos x henryi). The flower on this is smaller than the above three but it has consistently improved as the plant has matured over the past three years.

Next is the triffid of the hybrid world - Sunny ( calceolus x fasciolatum).
Its is by far the most vigorous clone going from one to nine flowers in three years. If only the others did the same!

Finally we have Philipp - always the last hybrid to flower. I think this is my favourite.
I think I've finally cracked how to grow it ( lots of water and feed)- it must be nearly twice the height it was when it first started to flower. There is a big difference between 'flowering size' and 'fully mature'.

Enjoy!
