Hi!
My Max. is currently blooming with about 18 buds/blooms. Many of them though are not opening fully because the pseudobulbs are too close together or leaves are getting in the way. Is there anything I can do about this, or is this just the way it is, when the plants get large?

Thank you!

I've seen allot of variation in tenufolia growth habit, and I don't know if its environmental of clonal. I have a large basket of this plant , and it doesn't stay bunched, but it's almost like a chain of pseudobubs hanging out of the pot. It throws big flowers on long spikes (but relatively few) for this species and doesn't have much of a crowding problem. But mine is in the greenhouse and I maintain a high humidity out there. I looked at my records an last year it was in spike in April, but I don't see anything but a bunch of new growth so far for this year. All I can suggest is warmer and more humid.

Thanks Rick, I know it definitely could use more water from me - several signs, so I wonder if that's my problem, overall.

I was poking at my tenufolia and found a few spikes starting to push out, so its not too far behind schedual. I saw a mega bloomer at the Huntsville show this weekend. Must have been 20,000!!! blooms on that sucker, all no more than 1.5 inches across, and down deep in the plant.

I'll be lucky to see a dozen or so, but the blooms will be over 2" across, and around the periphery of the plant. Too weird.

I had that problem last year (first year growing it). I greatly increased the water during its last growth cycle and that helped a lot with this year’s blooming, which I’m enjoying at present.
