I bought one growth on EBay a couple of months ago and it arrived very wobbley on it's stem and is failing to thrive. I haven't given up on it but I would still like to find a healthy one. Any ideas of where I can find it ?

have you check out the forum sponsors? I'm sure they'd have a few. ;)

I just checked and you're right. I also found them at Windy Hill so now it's time to decide which one to purchase from. Thanks for your help and for the welcome to this forum.

My 2 cent go with orchids inn every plant that I've bought from Sam has been excellent. However my opinion is kinda biased becasue I've never bought anything from windy hill.

I would recommend Orchids Limited because I bought a 2 growth Mexi and 2-3months later it is now a 4 growth plant with it just about ready to bloom. Well thats my two cents, Hope it helps.

What conditions are you growing this division in?

I killed my first one but seem to be doing better with my present one. An expensive plant to kill

It is in a mix of small bark, charcoal, moss and pearlite in a southern window with bright, indirect light. The temps are near 80 during the day, and 68-70 at night. The day time temps are sometimes a bit warmer than 80. I water it only when it is nearly dry. I have many other phrags, paphs and phals and they are all doing very well. I really think that during shipment the crown broke away from the roots because it had to be braced to keep from falling over. I just received a new Mex from Windy Hills and it is SOLID. No floppiness at all.

From your conditions, Your new Mexipedilum should do well. I really like their cute little flowers when in bloom. Your new Mexipedilum should grow really well in your conditions. Do add some oyster shell as they like to grow in alkaline conditions. Too bad your ailing Mexipedilium crown broke off the stolon with roots. You should have the shipper sent the plant bare root in styrofoam peanuts because the postal people sometimes handles the package pretty rough.
