I love the old botanical prints that forum members have posted on the "Stoni var. platytaenium" thread. http://www.rainbowcomputers.net/forum/viewtopic.php?t=1323

I used to collect botanical prints about 15 years ago and went off hunting for my old prints today. Most of them were of herbs (a life long passion) and wildflowers, but there were a few old orchid prints in the bunch.

They came from a publication called "Revue Horticole." Unfortunately, I only have the illustrations and no text. I'm not sure whether the illustrations were cut from a book, or whether they were plates included in a folio. I'm guessing that these date from the 1870's. This is just an uneducated guess, but somehow I recall seeing something that dated these to 1873.

First time using Photobucket. Hope it works!!! Besides being beautiful, there must be a lot to learn from those old illustrations. :)

Thanks Stan!!! :D

Peter, I think I could have done a better job on the Phal print. It is much prettier than my photo shows. The Vanda print is very dramatic and easy to photograph. If you saw it in person, you would see it shows its age and has a tear. I've been saving my prints, because I wanted to mount them & frame them someday. I never thought about the plants however, until now.

I wonder whether these species or Hybrids still exist today. (Sorry, I don't know much about Vandas & Phals!)
