Does anyone know what type of bloomer is Phrag Lining Fire?
Parents are Sorcerers Apprentice x Besseae.

What exactly is the question? Is it 'what do the flowers look like?'. Pretty much like you'd expect...

Tall spikes on big plants, mature plants having branching inflorescences and multiple flowers open simultaneously.

I would venture to guess sequential, likely w/ more than one bloom open at a time - is that what you mean by what type? Sorc. App. bread back to besseae is likely to bring down size and increase red coloration, but both plants are sequential bloomers.

Paphgirl, I think you might be on the right track. I don't know if your mountain maid is the same but when another bud opens the other flower just drops off about one day later.

Well, I think that mature Sorcerer's Apprentice's have more of a tendancy to hold multiple branching blooms on for longer. Now, I don't know why this is, thought perhaps it is the longifolium and sargentianum in the background. As an example, Pete's Inca Embers has long. and besseae in the breeding and as it has matured it has had more blooms open at the same time. Mine is still a young division, but holding more blooms than last year. Same w/ my St. Peter and Mtn. Maid - similar backgrounds=similar plant habits I guess. That's my rather simplistic take on it anyway.

Sorcerer's Aprentice can be a real mega bloomer, as described by Paphgirl.

Lots of branching spikes, with multiple open flowers. Adding bessea back in may slow this down a bit.

Ed Merkle has a monster SA. If he catchs this post, maybe he can post a pic.

In addition, Sorcerer's Apprentice tends to be a hugely prolific bloomer on really huge spikes, so even just the longevity may be coming into play with its' floriforousness. I'm just guessing here though, because....I like to try to figure out the WHY of breeding certain plants and....
