This is an interesting plant in the fact that it is a biennial. It only blooms every other year, so I had to plant one blooming plant each year in order to have blooms every year. This plant is also used to make the drug Digitalis.

Beautiful! I heard the flowers are poisonous, is that true? I tried growing a couple of Foxglove plants a few years ago but they died.

Yes, the plants contain digitalis which is an effective heart medication in therapeutic doses in patients with heart conditions. However, it very potent and has very deleterious effects when used in uncontrolled or inappropropriate amounts. So no foxglove salad.
