I just unpacked a box of 100 miniature orchids. Guaranteed not to die. Since they are ... plastic! They are adorable. 3-4" tall.
Should we auction a few?

Here is a sample:

I'm not posting all of them (I took pictures of 21). But you can find them in my website. My photography sucks, but you get the idea.

Yes, there were a few paphs in the box. And no, I'm not selling any of those. Not yet anyway. I got three. And two of them had the dorsals broken off... Grr. I'm going to try superglue. One (that looks sort of like niveum) is intact.

Well, considering they are only 3" tall... Whoever makes them pays remarkable attention to detail. Better than my photography indicates. There are a few errors, for example the (one) phal I got has the spike coming out from the center of the leaves. And one that looks to be a cattleya has a spike coming from the base. Maybe it is something else. I couldn't identify all of them.

When I was in Thailand a few years ago I found the worlds best fake orchids. Some were so realistic that I had to look twice. All were made out of the same 'clay' stuff that these miniatures are made from. I have a really nice fake phalaenopsis and a yellow minicatt. Full scale replicas. Down to the minor imperfections you might find (three flowers on the cattleya, and they are all subtly different).
