Hello,

I have phragmipediums and, as you can see in the photo, there are many transparent spots on the leaves. The spots start to grow from the edge of the leaves.
I cut all the infected leaves but new spots appear.
The spots have irregular shapes and appear/dissapear and the shape change everyday.

What is the problem ? Thank you for your advice...

Could it be mechanical damage? I have seen similar things on my outside garden plants.

It's a bug for sure. I don't know what it is, but it has happened to some of my plants before, and it was a little caterpillar looking thing that will take the green out of a leaf and make the leaf look like cellophane.

I have 2 theories, invisible bugs or frost damage, but I prefer bug. This could be mites ?

Could it be snails or slugs.
Sluggo is the best for the snails. It only kills molusks.
Unpot the plant and look for "bush snails" down in the mix. They are very small.
It only takes one as they are hermorphodrite.
They can be very hard to compleatly eradicate as they can travel to your other plants.
good luck.

I also think that this is mechanical damage from a bug of some sort. Try looking when the plant has been in the dark for a while.

Thank you,
The spots are more visible in the morning and dissapear during the day.
I scrub the leaves with a cotton soaked with soap and he spots seems to be eradicated for my phrag Eric Young. New spots are appearing on the new shoots of my Sedenii. I will continue to wash the leaves with soap...

Terry, I will have a phrag Bouley Bay soon, your favorite slipper orchid ! It will be the next victim of the mystery bug !!!

When the plants are in the darkness, transparent spots appear with little drops on...
It seems to be a physiological phenomenon : The cells are not damaged by a bug...
It worries me !!!

I've had the same thing happen to my phrags, did you ever find a solution?
