I was talking this cross up in another thread...
So far as I can tell, it isn't registered yet. I don't know who made the cross, or I would ask to name it.
There is a 'purple crayon' clone, this one is not quite that intense but I really like the color. Very widely variable colors out of this cross, white/pink/yellow/purple... Cool. Has Neo. falcata on both sides (50% of this hybrid).
Paphgirl July 1st, 2005, 10:50 AM Very pretty - great color!!
nyorchids July 1st, 2005, 11:45 AM very nice!!
Gideon July 1st, 2005, 02:31 PM Stunning colour, is the plant similar to the neo?

It has a bit of Vanda in it, so reasonably close but not quite. The plant is still small, but the leaves are a little different than a Neo. And the flowers don't have much of a spur.
Vf. Virgil = Neo. falcata x V. cristata
Dar. Charm = Neof. falcata x Vasco. Tham Yuen Hae

Not this particular plant... I like it too much. But I have three or four other ones. Only one other one has bloomed out. It looks like this:

New World Orchids has a couple dozen. I know because they got them from me... *grin*. Actually the purple one is one that Alex was kind enough to give back. You could contact Alex (or Dr. Lehr) and request a purple one. They don't have any in bloom right now (I was just there last weekend), but he could reserve one for you if one comes up. www.newworldorchids.com
Oh, and a gratuitous foliage shot for Gideon. This is what the plant looks like.
Paphgirl July 1st, 2005, 03:30 PM Very vandaceous! I like the whole plant pics a whole lot.

I like vandaceous things, but I didn't like their size. Hard to grow even Ascocendas under lights. The bigger things work ok in the greenhouse. The nice thing about some of this 'weird' breeding is that the plants stay nice and small. If any of my blooming Charm crosses are more than 6" tall, I'd be surprised. Probably not for everybody, but I think this line of breeding has some potential for under-lights people.
Now if I can just find some more...

Thanks, that is nice.
I really like the shape of the flowers.
Jon in SW Ohio July 1st, 2005, 05:29 PM Awesome!
That's about the same color as my blue neofinetia. That is one neat grex, I will have to keep an eye out for some. Thanks for posting.
