I'm sure most of you have seen the pic of it in Cribbs book "Slipper Orchids of Borneo", and if you haven't, you can see it here on Dr. Tanaka's website:
http://www.orchid.or.jp/orchid/people/tanaka/Special/album/enalbum17.html

Anyway, I was wondering if anyone has heard of it being outside Borneo yet. I would really like to add this one to my lowii variety collection, but didn't know if anyone has been allowed to flask seed from it. Thanks.

Yes, I would also like to get one! I wonder if they are even available here legally!

Yes, I know where to get them. Lowii f. aureum has been around a while. There are many flasks being created in the US, and there are rumors of adult wild-collected plants for $5000-$12000 USD. And yes, the flasklings are legal.

Excellent news!!
I knew adults were available for around ten grand, just like kovachii and a few others. Doesn't do me any good though legal or not, maybe one day I'll win the lottery and have that kind of money laying around. I'll have to keep an eye out for seedlings.

Not much patience is not needed, especially if you have the connections. The flasks will be available on the open market shortly. Expect to pay slightly less than stonei f. album flasks.

Speaking of oddball lowii vars. There is a picture of one in Birk's book from Palawan that looks pretty cool.

It looks extra fuzzy and and extra red.

Have you seen that one around Steve?

That lowii does look very hairy! Pretty cool, must have missed this page ...errr whole multifloral section. The best one is on p. 97. Very different and beautiful looking! Nice red also! :poke:

Pg 97 is just another stupid fairyanum :poke: :poke:

Actually that one is pretty nice. I have a couple of fairrianums too Tadd.

One of them is a FV plant called Red. It does have a fair amount of red in it, and it bloomed much bigger than my other one I got from Andy's. I'll have to see if I can find a picture of it when it bloomed this past winter.
