I recently was sent some Cyp californicum seeds. They came in two different packages and were harvested from two different plants. I have sent them to two different individuals for flasking. One of the plants the collector calls 'Big' (nearly 4' tall it was reported) and the other he calls 'Thousands' (I think you will be able to tell why!). Here are pics of the two plants as well.

Hi All,
Yep, those are my seeds & my photos. This year, as always, I sent out seeds to the best Cyp flaskers the world around, and I had a few left over to offer to forum members and such. I sent out 15 packages this year, I think: a new record for me. This is all in the hopes that Cyp californicum will be widely propagated with this amazing stock of seeds and needs for WC plants will disappear. So Good luck to you Steven & your helpers!

I haven't sown this years seeds yet, but in the past Cyp calfornicum germinates well, albeit slowly, as long as medium & bleaching are appropriate. Unfortunately, this species often requires two years in flask, and after outplanting they are SLLLLOOOOOWWWW to bloom, with reports of 7-8 years deflasked before the first single flower appears! Oddly enough, this single flower is often borne from a 5-15 stemmed seedling! None-the-less, if one can master cultivation, obviously this species has it's "multifloral" benefits though their true glory may be 15-20yrs down the line!

I can wait.

Patiently yours,
Ross

Peter,
They are amazing plants, but they are in the wild, not cultivated. No one in the entire world has a Cyp californicum that looks anything like either of these!!!... again part of my goal.

Best,
Ross

Ross, with your help californicum may become more common in collections (rather, californicum may appear in collections!).

Ron, any update on the seed I sent to you? I know you told me they were germinating a few weeks ago.

Pictures for the masses?

Hi, I am out for most of this week but I will take some pictures of the babies this weekend. Hopefully there will be few things blooming as well!

I am not sure if I am infinitely patient or just plain forgot, but it REALLY would be cool if you could post some pics of the californicum flasks for me (US!).

PLEASE? :hyper:

Still no word from the other person I sent some seed to. Really bumming me out and hoping all is well on his end.

This time it WAS forgetfullness and being totally distracted. I would still like to have an update and/or pictures of the plants.

PLEASE!

My other cyps did not do well this year. :( So I am not totally ready for them, just would like to know more about what is going on.

The other set of seed and the person that was to germinate them for me has totally disappeared. The best resource I had for making contact with him reports that even SHE has not had any luck.
