Okay, I read the article on the oyster shells and that caused me to look up the parentage of my babies a bit closer. The maudiae types are enough to drive anyone nuts but this one in particular has me totally confused and maybe you guys can offer some guidance.
The tagged paph in question reads P. Macabre x P. Shadow Magic x P. Red Maude (without parentheses) which left me scratching a bit just from the boggle of imaging a plant 3-some. I went to the RHS Registry site and did some grex research on the thing using almost every combination of the three names.
The only one I found was P. Macabre x P. Red Maude registered in 1998 as P. Nightspot. Logically, I would assume if the tag printers weren't ignorant, this is an unnamed grex of P. Macabre x P. Shadow Magic that was subsequently crossed with a P. Red Maude. I was able to trace all the parentages back to species but now I'm stuck with a naming issue I think.
Just for gee whiz factor...this maudiae hybrid can trace it's lineage back to P. sukhakuli x P. goultenianum x P. lawrencianum x P. mastersianum x P. callosum so it's a REAL mutt!
