Hi everyone, I'm new here but I've been visiting for a while. I thought I'd join to get a bit more specific info on some of the little things that make such a big difference with orchids.

I have just had my Drac hirtzii awarded an AM at a judges meeting here in New Zealand. The symmetry isn't perfect, but the judges told me they were impressed with the texture and the colour. The size is about average at 185mm NS (I think).

Boy, these things are difficult to photograph!

In NZ, do you need to pay or not if you get an award?
Here in the States, we need to pay.

Whoops, looks like I forgot to hit the 'Host it' button! The pic looks a bit blurred, but I think that must be the software I used to resize the shot.

Yes, here we have to pay, it's about US$15. It's my first award, and I'm a bit happy!

Awesome flower, I think the symmetry is good anyway. Not perfect but who says it needs to be???

Beautiful and I would love to own it.
