My malipoense is in sheath now, but seems a couple of months early. I don't expect it to start spiking till late this fall.
I noticed Greenpaph's was in bud on his list. Anyone else seeing sheaths?

Mine is in sheath as well. Just think...in another 8-9 months we might see a flower. :) I got this malipoense about 2 years ago and this is the first sheath for me.

These guys are ssssoooooooooo slow.
I cheated and got one in spike from Orchids Limited last year. This is a new growth in sheath now, but a multigrowth plant has allot of momentum to it.

I also got one last winter in bud but I accidently broke the spike. The new growth is still young, so mine will be a long time before it spikes again.

, P. malipoense can flower in summer July/August, but it flowers more often in winter January/March so this is normal

Have your temps been somewhat milder than normal? This could explain the early bud!

The groundhog was right about a longer than normal winter, but we went right to summer, with a pretty warm spring

I think the crazy weather we've had of 2005 has thrown off the timing of my orchids
