Slipperguy September 29th, 2007, 09:21 PM I think the aureum variety is the all yellow color one. Paphy57 September 29th, 2007, 10:08 PM I believe 'aureum' is the same as 'flavum'. What is the regular color? Is the regular color 'purpurascens'? Good question! Paphraguy September 29th, 2007, 11:40 PM I believe 'aureum' is the same as 'flavum'. What is the regular color? Is the regular color 'purpurascens'? Good question! Yes, "aureum" means yellow. paphreek October 1st, 2007, 07:12 AM I'm not an expert, but I believe that the yellow form of primulinum was the type plant described in the original description of primulinum, which makes it simply Paph. primulinum. The form with the pink pouch is then Paph primulinum fma. purpurescens. Bill Zimmerman October 1st, 2007, 02:39 PM I'm not an expert, but I believe that the yellow form of primulinum was the type plant described in the original description of primulinum, which makes it simply Paph. primulinum. The form with the pink pouch is then Paph primulinum fma. purpurescens. That's right.....the original description was for Paph primulinum which is an all yellow flower. Since then it has been sib crosses to create some forms with white pouches. The var. purpurascens is a diluted form of whatever the ancestrial parent was, and the jungle forms were orangy shades somewhat between primulinum and glaucophyllum or liemianum. Some of the line bred versions of var. purpurascens are much more pink in the pouch than the original bronzy shades. |
