Ok, I know we had that Mealybug thread awhile ago, but I just want to know what you use on them, and what is the frequency that you apply it at?? (ex. Once a week)
Thanks in advance!

(Oh, and I have heard about neem oil, but am afraid to use it after reading Hien's thread! It was scary stuff!)

What I usually do is check for bugs and when I do find them, I eradicate them with alcohol and then spray them with soapy water.

If you're eradicating with alcohol, then is the soapy water necessary?
What type of plants are being affected? I use neem ALL the time on phals (flowers & foliage) & clivia and have had no problem, following directions.

the most important thing with any pesticide is to follow the label directions and it's best to re-read them every time you use the pesticide (sometimes we think we remember what it said but....)
i have been using beneficial insects. they take longer, the results aren't always permanent, but i'm more comfortable with it.
that being said, i am about to spray with a few pesticides... i'm going to use marathon ii and talus. i think marathon is the same thing as merit, which some people think is really effective. as with any pesticide treatment, pesticide rotation is important to avoid insects developing resistance to the pesticide used...

Yes, to kill those hiding in places where I can't see or reach them, plus it also cleans the plants at the same time. :D

I also use Listerine but never used it on my plants. I have heard other growers do use Listerine on their plants.

Listerine has alcohol in it, something like 20%, plus artificial sweetener & dyes.
hmmmm ...... amazing what some people put in their mouths!

Doesn't it also have some kind of antiseptic??

Yes it does have antiseptic but so do quite a few essential oils. Quite frankly the 'original' listerine I found to be pretty bad tasting due to the alcohol content. Then to read the label & find dyes & artificial sweetener - no thanks. I make my own mouthwash using peppermint, spearmint & clove essential oils. Hours later, the dental hygenist even asked & wrote it down!
